I am excited to share another milestone! But why "Understanding the Child Better"?Is it related to IT?Is it required for your job applications? Are you shifting to another field of work?My answer is NO. I just felt it was time to explore and learn new things outside my comfort zone, way outside my comfort zone 😃 . Take a leap and enjoy the journey. This course is about theoretical perspectives on children and child development and children’s situation, with a focus on children in need of special protection. It aims to develop a better understanding of children as the foundation for the development and conduct of effective and relevant activities and programs in support of child rights protection and promotion. Source: https://model.upou.edu.ph/ With over a decade of advocating for child education (shoutout to World Vision PH) and being a mother myself, this course has helped me embrace children's differences and appreciate all the people who nurture them.Truly, it's important to continue learning and growing, even outside of our chosen careers.

🎯 Understanding your strengths is a gateway to exceptional performance, happiness, and success.🎯 In Memphis, many struggle to identify their unique professional talents and match them with fulfilling, well-paying jobs. This lack of understanding leaves tens of thousands of people in the dark, pursuing employment paths that don't appreciate their skills. As a community, we can change this! One consequence of this challenge is that students waste their time and school resources pursuing credentials that do not enhance their employment outcomes. As we support initiatives that help people understand their professional aptitudes and match them with the jobs that value them most, we can create pathways to the jobs people are most likely to thrive. This not only benefits people experiencing poverty but also employers as they will have higher performing staff and higher retention rates. 💪🌟 https://lnkd.in/eWmEV43n#SkillsForSuccess #EmpowerYouth #BrighterFuture #SlingshotMemphis

Taking ownership of my future was a transformational aspect of my successful reentry after serving 33 years off a 40 year to life sentence. The prospect of life beyond incarceration was daunting, but I realized that I held the power to shape my destiny. I learned that I could create a life aligned with my aspirations. To take ownership of my future, I started by setting clear, achievable goals. I identified what I wanted to accomplish and outlined the steps needed to get there. This process provided direction and purpose, giving me a roadmap to follow.I also recognized the importance of self-education and personal development. I engaged in learning opportunities, seeking to acquire new skills and knowledge that would empower me to succeed in my chosen path. Education became a key tool in shaping my future.Surrounding myself with positive influences was another crucial step. I sought support from mentors and peers who believed in my potential and encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Their guidance reinforced the idea that my future was mine to shape.I confronted my past mistakes and took responsibility for them, understanding that they did not define my entire life. I used my experiences as lessons and motivation for personal growth.By taking ownership of my future, I was able to transition into meaningful employment, build positive relationships, and make a difference in my community. I now share this lesson with others on their reentry journey, emphasizing that they too have the power to shape their destinies. No matter their past, they can create a life aligned with their aspirations by setting goals, pursuing education, seeking support, and taking responsibility for their future. Empowering oneself to own their destiny is a key to a successful reentry.Be sure to follow Changing Lives Forever here and subscribe to our online magazine changinglivesforever@substack.com for the best in person keynote public speaking and podcast/TV/talk radio appearances contact co-founder of Changing Lives Forever and Executive Director Maria Morales at 415-583-1463 or mmorales.changinglivesforever@gmail.com. This wonderful news item provides a clear window into the power of capstone education. Once can easily observe how capstone allowed these students to explore their interests and how they grew in the process. Skills were acquired, challenges appeared, and students learned and changed in deep ways. Students even got the chance to explore career options. This piece also provides an example of the adaptability of capstone programs. The Appoquinimink School District in Delaware took the core elements of capstone and constructed an effective program for their students that makes best use of the school's resources, including connections with external community members — like businesses. The final quote of the article reflects the transformative nature of capstone:“I saw on people’s faces that they were truly able to learn a new perspective and they want to learn more about the problems of adolescent males’ environment. This is a topic that I want to make a career out of, not specifically dealing with malnutrition but dealing with the environmental and genetic factors of adolescents in poverty and violent crimes.”#CapstoneProjecthttps://lnkd.in/gRYRZyUZ

Our Outdoor Allies series explores how other outdoor adventurers got their start in advocacy work. Cooper Davis is a Jesuit educator in Phoenix, Arizona dedicated to uplifting Indigenous youth voices in defense of our common home and creating opportunities for young people of all backgrounds to experience the outdoors. As a teacher, what have you learned about young people and their relationship with advocacy? "Part of our mission as a school to envision a hope filled future and my students are pretty hope filled. They feel like they have a voice, they feel like they can stand up and make a difference. Instead of trying to identify problems, we think about how to use friction positively. We think about how we develop relationships to solve problems. We do that in all sorts of ways, from how to throw away trash on campus to how to work with the federal government to pass legislation."Read more: https://lnkd.in/gAc_gWqV
